Seed Treatment
for Food Plots
Treat Your Seed When You Plant!
Why
Use Seed Coat?
We plant food plots when we have time! Hunters, in most cases, have to work
their plots on weekends. Therefore, not like a farmer, they have to plow
and plant when they can, not after a rain or when conditions are ideal.
The number one complaint we hear is that the plot did not come up, or the
stand was thin, or it came up, but was weak and did not grow off.
Optimum Planting Depth Varies from One Seed Variety to Another:
Another factor is that blended seed, many times includes small seeds
that need to be covered with very little dirt, as well as larger
seeds that need to be planted deeper. The hunter covers them all
the same and some emerge better than others.
How can I Apply Seed Coat?
Seed Treatment: With Seed Coat as a dry seed treatment, the
hunter simply applies Seed Coat to the bag of seed or the seed
planter at a rate of one pouch or 4 ounces per 50 pound bag (one
ounce per 10 to 12 pounds) of seed and stirs it slightly before
planting. With Seed Coat, the seed and emerging seedling will have
more tolerance to stress (too dry or too wet, too hot or too cold,
too shallow or too deep). The quicker it gets up, out of the ground and
growing, the less impact weather stress will have on the resulting
stand. Available in a 4 ounce pouch, and a 3 # Pail (includes a
4 Oz. scoop).
What is Seed Coat?
This product is a nutrient rich
fertilizer. Seed Coat is formulated utilizing a proprietary chemistry
developed and utilized in row-crop agriculture since 1988. We utilize
a combination of vitamins, amino acids, enzymes and natural plant
extracts, in combination with specific nutrients and a proprietary
organic complex for enhanced uptake and movement throughout the
growing plant. Seed Coat contains no pesticides or hormones and
is environmentally friendly.
What are the Benefits of Using Seed Coat?
Seed Coat will improve
germination, emergence and survival of seedling food plot crops.
Whether planted in rows for production or broadcast for wildlife,
most crops will go through a stress period in the early days after
emergence. Plants struggle to emerge from the ground and expend
a lot of energy in doing so. Typically, after emergence, they rest,
or regroup. This period is referred to as a ‘lag phase’.
This is when the plant is most susceptible to stress from the environment.
This stress can be caused by lack of moisture, too much moisture, too cold,
too hot, compacted soil and many other weather related factors. Once the
stress sets in, the young plants become susceptible to diseases and growth
slows and a thin or stunted crop can be the result. Seed Coat is specifically
designed to give the young plant more energy to get emerged and out of the
ground. The more energy the plant has, the quicker it gets up and growing
and the less time there is in this lag phase for susceptibility to stress
and disease. Seed Coat has been proven to enhance germination, emergence
and grow off in crops like wheat, oats and rye, as well as many vegetable
crops like mustards and turnips.
Who
Formulates Seed Coat?
DeltAg Formulations of Greenville, Mississippi

thirty (30) years of experience in the agricultural industry, helping
farmers throughout the Eastern United States and Canada to produce
better crops. Yes, Seed Coat is the result of our experiences in
row-crops and vegetables in the commercial markets of agriculture.
Foliar Application: When Seed Coat is not applied as a seed treatment,
it is not too late to reap the benefits...
Plant Power Foliar may be applied as an over-the-top application
to the food plot foliage after the stand is up and established. It
can even be applied with most herbicides or insecticides. The best
method is to make this foliar application after the first ‘true’ leaf
has emerged and follow up with a second application again in two
to three weeks. The benefits are the same: Healthier, more energetic
and growing plants. The result is less stress and better early growth.
Foliar Rate: Foliar applications may be made at 32 ounces per acre
broadcast.
